SnapQR

Terms of Service

These terms apply when you use snapqr.org (“SnapQR”, “we”). SnapQR is a small independent project. By using the site you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site. We’ve kept them as plain as we can.

What SnapQR is

SnapQR is a free website for making and reading QR codes. The tools run in your browser: the codes you make and the images you scan are processed on your device, as explained in our Privacy Policy. There’s no account and nothing to pay.

The codes you make are yours

You can use the QR codes you create for any lawful purpose, personal or commercial — on menus, packaging, business cards, posters, products you sell and anything else. You don’t need to credit us. We don’t claim any rights over the content of your codes.

The codes are static: the content is stored in the code itself. They don’t expire, they don’t depend on our servers, and we can’t change or switch them off — so if the content is wrong, the only fix is a new code.

Your responsibilities

  • Check before you print or publish. We test our generator carefully, but you are responsible for checking that your code scans and opens the right thing. Scan a test copy with a phone, especially for large print runs, small sizes, light colors, logos, payment details and WiFi codes.
  • Your content and logos. You’re responsible for what you put in a code and for any logo or image you add. Only use logos and trademarks you have the right to use.
  • The law where you use it. Make sure your codes and how you use them follow the laws that apply to you, for example consumer, advertising or privacy rules.

Things you must not do

  • Make codes that lead to scams, phishing pages, malware, or content that is illegal or harms others.
  • Use codes to impersonate a person, brand or organization, or to trick people into paying or sharing personal data.
  • Attack, overload, scrape at scale or try to break the site, or get around its security.
  • Use SnapQR in a way that breaks the law.

Scanning codes from others

When you scan a code, SnapQR shows you what it contains and warns about common risks, like short links, look-alike web addresses or links without encryption. These warnings are a help, not a guarantee. We don’t control where other people’s codes lead, so decide for yourself before opening a link, joining a network or paying. For payment codes, SnapQR only reads the details — payments happen in your banking app.

Our site and content

The SnapQR name, design, text and code are ours. You may link to any page and quote short parts with a link back. Please don’t copy the site or its articles wholesale. The built-in logo icons are based on Lucide (ISC license), and the fonts are Google Sans and Google Sans Code (SIL Open Font License).

Availability and changes

We work to keep SnapQR running and fast, but we can’t promise it will always be available or error-free. We may change, add or remove features at any time. Codes you’ve already made keep working regardless, because they don’t depend on our servers.

No warranty

SnapQR is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including fitness for a particular purpose and that the codes will scan in every situation. Some places don’t allow these exclusions, so they apply only as far as your law allows.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential losses — such as lost profits, reprint costs or lost business — that come from using the site or the codes it makes, or from being unable to use it. Because the service is free, our total liability for any claim is limited to USD 50. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law, such as for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

If you break these terms

If you misuse SnapQR, we may block your access. You agree to cover reasonable costs and claims that arise because you used SnapQR to break the law or these terms.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date on this page shows the current version. If you keep using SnapQR after a change, the new terms apply.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the country where SnapQR is operated, except where the consumer protection law of your own country gives you rights that can’t be waived. If something goes wrong, email us first at [email protected] — most problems are solved quickly that way.
